----- Summary of Changes in this Release -----
Section titles show the feature/problem tracking number and description.
Release: 3.1x19S 2018-06-11
(1) 5092 - Reduce maximum pole count to 30
The previous v3.1 maximum pole count of 60 has been reduced to 30 to
conserve memory resources. The previous value accommodated a limited number
of unusual motor and gearing configurations that can be addressed indirectly
with a lower pole count by making a corresponding alteration to wheel
circumference.
(2) 5427 - Setup Utility sometimes fails to communicate with CA
The Setup Utility occasionally fails to read/write CA settings or to update
firmware. An issue with CA processing of communication messages has been
idenitified and repaired.
This is related only to communication using the programming cable and does
not affect CA settings or setup files.
(3) 5369 - Help files don't have link in category index to battery setup menu
A proper hyperlink to the referenced Battery Category has been added to the
Setting Summary Help file "2.0 Category Index".
This is a documentation change with no CA setup or setup file consequences.
(4) 2020 - The 'Miscellaneous' Setup category identifies settings using 'Pref'
The earlier 'Preferences' 3.0x category was split into 'Disp' and 'Misc' in
3.1. Settings in CA Console setup continue to use the 'Pref' designation.
This labelling has been corrected.
This is a display change with no CA setup or setup file consequences.
(5) 5539 - Setup 'Disp' Category Preview Screen shows the 'Misc->DspAvging'
The reorganization from the Preferences' to 'Display' and 'Misc' categories
left the CA Console Setup erroneously showing the 'Display Averaging'
setting on the display category preview screen.
The Display Preview screen has been revised to show the selected Custom
Views in place of the previous content.
This is a display change with no CA setup or setup file consequences.
(6) 5092 - (new) remove 'Import Preset' functions from Console Setup
To free space for Solar functionality, the Console Setup functions to import
presets were removed. These were convenience features that offered no
unique critical functionality.
This is a change to Setup functionality with no CA setup or setup file
consequences.
(7) 5617 - Aux Change PAS Power indication displays 'true power'/10 in Hi Range
Actual applied PAS power is correct, but in Hi Range the AuxChange display
is 1/10 the true value.
The Aux Change PAS power display is now multplied by 10 to show the correct
value to the nearest 10 watts.
This is a display change with no CA setup or setup file consequences.
(8) 5547 - Speedometer reads improperly over 45mph (72kph) in non-GPS mode
When no GPS speed data is available, speed is computed normally from the
wheel/motor pole signal. In that non-GPS case, the speedometer debounce
logic limits accurate speed display to a specific maximum (only) for pole
counts of 1, 2, or 3. In 3.0x firmware this maximum speed was approximately
90mph (145kph), however, 3.1 firmware reduces that limit to only 45mph
(72kph). Many ebikes can exceed this limit resulting in improper speed
display.
The original limit of 90mph (145kph) has been restored.
This is an operational change with no CA setup or setup file consequences.
(9) 5092 - (new) replace 'AuxA' capability with Solar Amps capability
The AuxA input along with supporting Status, Setup, and 'Aux Change' pop-up
screens have been replaced with Solar Amps measurement capability. This
provides new or modified Status screens, new Setup screens, and revised
serial log data.
This is a change to EEPROM and previous setups and CA setup files may not
transfer in their entirety requiring additional configuration of altered
setup items. The format of the serial data log is revised.
(10) 5092 - (new) remove 'Save/Restore Defaults' capability from Console Setup
To free space for Solar functionality, the Console Setup functions to save
and restore defaults to flash memory were removed. These were convenience
features that offered no unique critical functionality.
This is a change to Setup functionality with no CA setup or setup file
consequences.
(11) 5092 - (new) Add GPS position, bearing, and time capabilities
Serial input from a modified Analogger is parsed to extract GPS position,
bearing, and time information. This information is displayed on new Status
screens and new custom fields and appears in a revised serial data log.
This is a change to Display functionality with no CA setup or setup file
consequences. The format of the serial data log is revised.
(12) 2020 = Solar Amps/Watts displays vary too rapidly to read
Under certain circumstances the measured Solar Amps varies too rapidly to
give a stable display (e.g. traveling beneath trees). Unlike other values
such as Amps and Volts, Solar Amps are not averaged for display.
Solar Amps (and Solar Watts) are now averaged for display using a fixed
averaging period of 1.2 seconds which is not adjustable by Misc->DspAvging.
The averaged Solar Amps value is also used for logging.
This is a display/logging change with no CA setup or setup file consequences.
