Controllers
Grin's Phaserunner and Baserunner are sophisticated field-oriented (FOC) motor controllers, built specifically for DIY ebike conversions. They run brushless motors smoothly and quietly, work with virtually any motor, and give you proportional regenerative braking, sensored and sensorless operation, waterproof construction, full programmability, and direct plug-in compatibility with the Cycle Analyst.
The Baserunner packs that same technology into a slimmer, flatter case that fits inside the base of a downtube battery. Our downtube packs use a machined Reention case built to house it, so the controller tucks right inside for a clean, integrated install and runs from 27 to 60 volts. The Phaserunner is the higher-power, higher-voltage choice: a standalone controller for 500 to 2000 watt motors and 31 to 88 volts, ideal for high-power or high-speed builds and third-party battery packs, with a long 120 cm motor cable option that lets you mount it wherever suits your frame.
Most people get their controller as part of a complete kit: configure a Grin All-Axle kit in our kit builder, or browse all our kits by motor. If you just need a controller on its own, choose the Phaserunner or Baserunner model for your build from the options below.
